I spoke at a luncheon on Wednesday, and this is what I wore. I found this outfit on Tuesday, the day before. How’s that for last minute shopping?!?! It took me less than an hour door to door. Woot! Woot! I couldn’t believe it. I even surprised myself! Just in case you ever find yourself in a similar frenzied, eleventh hour situation (I know this never happens to you -ha!), I thought it would be helpful to share a few tips.
Let’s call it my “Last Minute Shopping Guide”.
–Shop websites first, using store availability as your guide.
On Monday night I started to look at dresses on Anthropologie’s website. I started at Anthropologie because I like their dresses, and I knew they had the store availability feature. Other websites I know with this feature are Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Free People. If I’m missing a store, please comment below.
–Let the location of your best bet, be your guide.
I found this pretty pink one and I knew it was my best bet. A few others at Anthropologie peeked my interest, so I knew it was a good starting point. Based on Anthropologie’s location, I scanned the other stores’ websites that were in the same retail center (Madewell, J. Crew, Free People ) for possibilities. In case Anthropologie failed, I had a few back-ups.
–Don’t forget to shop for accessories to complete your look.
Once the dress worked, I headed to the accessories section in Anthropologie. I looked at necklaces, scarves, bracelets and earrings. You may have something at home but you can always return the accessories you purchase. In a last minute situation, it’s better to be prepared. In this case, I think the necklace really completes the look.
–A steamer is essential!
When purchasing online or last minute, a steamer can save you. This dress was a wrinkled mess! I would have been way too nervous to try to iron it the day before. I’ve had quite a few ironing accidents, so a steamer is essential for last minute me. Plus, it quicker than ironing! I don’t know what I would do without my hand held mini steamer!
Well gals, I hope you don’t find yourself in a last minute pickle (I do all the time), but just in case you do, I hope this helps!
