One morning, over a cup of coffee, my sister and I started discussing what we were going to wear to a black tie optional event we were attending. She said that she had nothing to wear, and, me being who I am, I instantly heard a challenge and we drove to her closet (above).
Tucked in the back of her closet was this skirt. I’ve always loved this skirt, that she bought from T. J. Maxx in 2003. When I saw it hanging there I knew it had to be my jumping off point. We paired it with her white tuxedo shirt, but since she was missing her cuff links we improvised with the J. Crew sleeve roll. Then we started piling on the accessories.
When I’m accessorizing an outfit I like to pile all of the accessories on and then edit. I remove one item at a time until it all looks perfect.
We found a black velvet belt from another dress, and when we put it around her waist. It was the perfect added touch. I got so excited when we put this together!
Here she is at the event. Sorry about the picture quality.
