Dry Shampoo and a Poofy Bun

I’ve received a couple of requests to do a post about my dry shampoo and how I achieve my poofy bun. I love to get your requests, so keep them coming! Here’s my before picture with my second day hair (meaning I washed it yesterday and I didn’t wash it today). It’s very difficult to capture oily hair on camera, but trust me, it’s there. Especially on the sides, where my oil collects. Sorry, was that T.M.I.?

First, shake the dry shampoo (very important, I’ve had some so-so effects when I don’t shake the can). Second, part your hair where you see the oil and spray exactly there. Third, I flip over to make sure that my dry shampoo gets good and dry and to add volume.

Next, use a Scunchi rubber band. I don’t use this rubber band all the time because it damages my hair, but when I want a poofy bun it’s the only way to go. It holds my hair like nothing else on the market and it allows for a good poof. The next steps is to twist your hair into a bun. For a full bun turorial click (here).

This is the essential step for a good poof. Grab your bun and then start pulling or “poofing” your hair out a little around the top half of your head. Look in the mirror and decide where you need to keep pulling out, this is how I make sure my poof is even.

Finally, I give it a good spritz with hairspray and viola! A poofy bun and hair that doesn’t look like second day hair!

I like both of these dry shampoos. You can’t go wrong. I used the Rockaholic by Tigi for this post. I use the Oribe when I’m traveling. It was actually given to me as a sussy along with gum, make-up remover pads and bobby pins from one of my bffs on a girls trip. What a great idea! The Oribe Dry Shampoo has a really nice scent to it but my husband is very sensitive to smell, so I don’t use it when we go on dates 🙂
