For the Boys…and You!

As you can imagine, I’m not the only one I dress in the family. I love to pick out outfits for my boys and my husband, too! So naturally when Nordstrom asked if I’d be interested in doing two posts on toddler clothing, it peaked my interest. But, before I accepted, I asked you all on Facebook. Well, it received the most “likes” I’ve ever received on a post -ha! I do have a few tricks that I’d like to share with you on dressing kids, but first, this is what I wore on Easter (outfit links are at the bottom of the post).

Every year I try to buy one nice shirt for my boys. My son calls a button up shirt a “church shirt”. Well, what can I say, our family is pretty casual until Sunday rolls around -ha! But our church is pretty casual, too! And for this reason, one shirt gets us pretty far through a year. But, I also make sure that it’s versatile enough to be worn with dressy slacks, dress shoes and a belt, as well as casually with shorts.

Nordstrom has expanded their toddler department, and it’s awesome. When I went into the store the other day, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the toddler section had more than doubled in size! I’ve been told that soon enough all my sons will want to wear is Under Armour (which I saw a lot of), but until then, I’ll take full advantage of dressing them up -ha!

A couple weeks ago I passed by my friend and her son while at my boy’s school. Her son had on these bright, colorful New Balances, and when I asked her where she bought them, of course she said Nordstrom. I was super excited to get them for my boys in their favorite colors. To me, these shoes can take any boy’s outfit up a notch. Not to mention they are great quality, which is very important with boys shoes. Love them!

What the “photo shoot” really looked like…just keeping it real.

Hey, Carly! Hoping, hoping you might have an idea… I love the Ole San Miguel clothing. Short of waiting until fall and hoping to make it to Round Top, any ideas of how to buy their shirts or something similar? Any insight is extremely appreciated! -blessings!

I love, love your blazer! Do you know if the current one on the Topshop site (the “Georgina” in blush) is the same as Nordstrom one you linked to in nude? If not, which is more similar to yours? I think that I need one! Also, your boys look adorable. I like to pick out outfits for my husband too and am looking forward to picking them out for our little boy due any day now 🙂

Do you want new hair growth in your eyebrows? I ha Do you want new hair growth in your eyebrows? I have a trick, and no, it’s not an expensive hair growth serum! It’s Castor Oil, so it’s all natural and inexpensive. Apparently, it’s been used for thousands of years dating back to ancient Egypt. Ok, and I use it on my eyelashes, too, but I’m doing that at my own risk. I don’t want to recommend this practice, since I don’t really know what it’s going to do to my eyesight. I know, call me crazy- it’s fine.

Thanks to my friend, Michelle for telling me about this little trick!

Comment “oil” for links to both the Castor Oil and the wands I use. #beautytips #beauty #eyebrows #beautyproducts
I attended a funeral today of a friend who died of I attended a funeral today of a friend who died of mental illness. If my friend is strong enough to stand at the podium and talk about her husband and the hope her family has in the midst of their darkest days, then I want to honor both of them by telling you about my struggle with mental illness. My friend mentioned that many of her husband’s closest friends had no idea that he’d been struggling with mental illness for 3 years, and I realized that many of you, and probably some of my closest friends don’t know how long and hard my struggle has been with mental illness. For me my mental illness wasn’t the kind where I couldn’t get out of bed or out of the house, which would make it hard to tell I was struggling. For me it looked more like battling through the day and struggling with my own self condemning thoughts and emotions - shaming myself for being happy one minute and sad the next, or for not being happy all the time, looking around at all my blessings and not feeling gratitude, which made me feel like there was something wrong with me. It was hard to get excited. On some days I walked around feeling like a scared puppy in a big bad world with my emotions right at the surface. For me, my faith is very important to me, and I knew this was not the life God had for me, so I started to pray for help and deliverance. God started to lead me to help in a whole bunch of different forms, counselors, health practitioners, friends, medicine, trauma therapy, EMDR, books, excercise, the support of family, and most importantly, Christ and His word.
For me, it was over a 10 year battle probably because I was overcoming a lot of trauma being raised by an alcoholic mom. But for you it may be longer or shorter or this isn’t something you struggle with at all (hallelujah!). If you do, your emotions and your struggle may be different. But I’m here to say, you’re loved. You are loved by God and by so many of the people around you. Don’t give up. Dig in and fight the battle that’s happening in your mind. Fight it like you would if you had cancer. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalillness #mentalhealthmatters

How to get the cuffed denim look without buying a How to get the cuffed denim look without buying a new pair of jeans! You don’t need to buy a new pair of jeans to get the cuffed denim look! Just grab a pair of straight leg jeans from your closet, cuff them to be about an inch or 2 above the top of your ankle bone and use the nifty little gadget from this tutorial. Viola! Plus, the cuffed denim length makes it a heck of a lot easier to wear most of the shoes in your closet! #winning
