A couple of women recently asked me about the different ways there are to wear a blue jean jacket. I thought it was a great questions and post inspiration, so I started taking pictures of myself whenever I wore my jean jacket.
Here are some different ways I like to wear my jean jacket.

I really like the contrast of my blue jean jacket when it’s paired with black and white jeans, but…

I absolutely love it with BLUE jeans! Denim on denim feels so chic to me. I know this may seem like a faux pas to some (like my husband- wink, wink), but not to me. It’s one of my favorite looks! You can break up the blue with a neutral (like white or cream) or a pop of color (like the scarf), or go for the monochromatic look with a blue oxford, like I did in the middle picture.

There are also fun ways to get creative with a jean jacket. Here I stuck my fur stole (that I pulled off of another sweater) inside the collar for extra warmth. I had the oxford and sweater sleeves pulled down and the blue jean jacket sleeves cuffed to give it a more styled look.

And here I layered it with my vintage flannel. It was cold that morning, so I wore it under my jean jacket and when it warmed up, I tied the flannel around my waist. I thought it was another fun way to layer. I like this particular jean jacket, because it hits above my hips. If the jacket is too long, it makes me look boxy. For this reason, I like jean jackets that hit at the waist line.

On this day I was wearing a shirt that was longer in the back, but that didn’t stop me! I still layered my jacket on top and then when the day warmed up, I tied the jacket around my waist.
I hope this was helpful! I’m getting creative with my jean jacket and having fun with it. I hope you feel inspired to do the same! Happy Weekend!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about carpetcleaning.

Great post! I love the look of a jean jacket, but struggle with how to wear mine. This is so helpful. A question: do you have two jackets in different washes, or is it the lighting? Thank you!
Thank you for your comment. It’s the same jacket. It must be the lighting. 🙂
Hi Carly! I have been reading you for two years- and I love your new site configuration. Thank you for answering the denim on denim question. I am a child of the 80’s who has shied away from this. But after seeing your photos I am going to pull both pieces out and layer with confidence. Plus, I needed to switch up my jackets with all this North Texas rain. Thank you for the style inspiration – keep writing!
Hi Ginni! Thank you for your thoughtful comment!
I appreciate your blog; you’ve given me lots of good ideas.
My jean jacket is Gap circa 2003!! It seems to work– but I am curious– do they go out of style? How fitted should it be?
