10 Things I’m Loving Right Now

Last night I had the privilege of presenting the “10 Things I’m Loving Right Now” with a great group of ladies! I met a lot of new friends and was excited to see lots of friendly faces, too. I always leave inspired by the questions I receive, and I can’t wait to share them with you guys. But for now, I’d like to share with you the “10 things I’m Loving Right Now”.

10 Things I'm Loving Right NowSneakers// Sandals// Watch// Espadrilles// Chambray// Dolman Tee// Abound Camisole// Bracelets (here and here)// Grey Jeans// Essie Nail Polish (here and here)// Clutch// Crossbody

Sneakers– Sneakers just make sense for me, because I’m out and about and on my feet a lot. So, I’m glad fashion sneaks are in, and I hope they NEVER go out! If you’ve followed along for any amount of time, then you know I have lots of different color tennis shoes, but… I didn’t have navy… and how versatile is navy?!?!? And done. Sold. Hook, line and sinker.

Sandals & Watch– I have been having fun wearing my black sandals and my black watch as an unexpected combination. It seems to add a little umph to all my summer outfits. Also, it doesn’t matter what outfit I have on, because my shoes and my watch “go together”.

Espadrilles– I may be a little obsessed with espadrilles this season. As you all know, I had these steal of deal espadrilles (here) on my last two “10 Things” posts, so it’s only fitting that I share yet another darling pair of espadrilles. These espadrilles are sure to add color to any of my summer outfits, and the best part is, I don’t have to have my toe nails painted.

Chambray– Well, I knew I would like this chambray shirt that was on my last my last favorite finds, but I didn’t know I would like THIS much. This shirt has taken the place of the standard sweater I would normally carry around in the summer months. I love that it is sturdy enough to tie around my waist, unlike my other sweater that I would carry in my purse. And I love that I can wear it with just about any type of bottom, and I can even wear it as a cover up. The Nordstrom Junior’s department is a great place to go for trends that you don’t want to heavily invest in and for women who have a hard time finding shirts to fit their narrow shoulders.

Dolman Tee– I bought this tee last year and I wear it ALL the time. ALL the time. It’s just an easy throw on and go shirt, which is precisely why I wear it so much. Urban Outfitters is a really great place for different kinds of t-shirts. I feel like I always go to the Gap or J. Crew hoping to find something a little different than my v-necks, but always I have the best luck at Urban Outfitters. I like this one, this one and this one.

Abound Camisole– I have been in love with Abound Camisoles for a very long time. I like that the straps are thick enough to cover your bra strap.  You’ll be hearing more about this cami in a post soon. It needs an entire post- it’s that good.

Bracelets (here and here)- I love the tassel trend. I love participating in trends, but I don’t like to spend lots of money on them. I think accessories are a great way to follow a trend without breaking the bank. Plus, theses bracelets are a great way to add color to any outfit!

Grey Jeans (for similar here)- I’ve been wearing my grey jeans with a lot of my summer tops from last year. I’m finding that it’s giving my summer staples a new life. With just a little different pairing, you can give last year’s summer clothes a whole new life!

Nail Polish (here and here)- I am loving opaque, light colors for nails this summer. I’m wearing Fiji on my toes right now and love it!

Clutch– I’ve never had a gold clutch before, and boy was I missing out. I’m wearing this thing like crazy- it goes with everything! I love the tassel, because it gives me something to hold onto if I don’t want to carry it under my arm.

Crossbody– I originally purchased this as purse to wear to a concert, and I’ve been wearing it a ton. I like that it can go cross body but can also be a shoulder bag. I also like that it goes with my black watch and black sandals. They have other really fun colors, too.

Thanks to all the ladies that worked so hard to make last night possible! It was a blast and everything was so perfect!

Do you want new hair growth in your eyebrows? I ha Do you want new hair growth in your eyebrows? I have a trick, and no, it’s not an expensive hair growth serum! It’s Castor Oil, so it’s all natural and inexpensive. Apparently, it’s been used for thousands of years dating back to ancient Egypt. Ok, and I use it on my eyelashes, too, but I’m doing that at my own risk. I don’t want to recommend this practice, since I don’t really know what it’s going to do to my eyesight. I know, call me crazy- it’s fine.

Thanks to my friend, Michelle for telling me about this little trick!

I attended a funeral today of a friend who died of I attended a funeral today of a friend who died of mental illness. If my friend is strong enough to stand at the podium and talk about her husband and the hope her family has in the midst of their darkest days, then I want to honor both of them by telling you about my struggle with mental illness. My friend mentioned that many of her husband’s closest friends had no idea that he’d been struggling with mental illness for 3 years, and I realized that many of you, and probably some of my closest friends don’t know how long and hard my struggle has been with mental illness. For me my mental illness wasn’t the kind where I couldn’t get out of bed or out of the house, which would make it hard to tell I was struggling. For me it looked more like battling through the day and struggling with my own self condemning thoughts and emotions - shaming myself for being happy one minute and sad the next, or for not being happy all the time, looking around at all my blessings and not feeling gratitude, which made me feel like there was something wrong with me. It was hard to get excited. On some days I walked around feeling like a scared puppy in a big bad world with my emotions right at the surface. For me, my faith is very important to me, and I knew this was not the life God had for me, so I started to pray for help and deliverance. God started to lead me to help in a whole bunch of different forms, counselors, health practitioners, friends, medicine, trauma therapy, EMDR, books, excercise, the support of family, and most importantly, Christ and His word.
For me, it was over a 10 year battle probably because I was overcoming a lot of trauma being raised by an alcoholic mom. But for you it may be longer or shorter or this isn’t something you struggle with at all (hallelujah!). If you do, your emotions and your struggle may be different. But I’m here to say, you’re loved. You are loved by God and by so many of the people around you. Don’t give up. Dig in and fight the battle that’s happening in your mind. Fight it like you would if you had cancer. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalillness #mentalhealthmatters
I had fun taking this outfit from day to night by I had fun taking this outfit from day to night by swapping out my denim skirt for my leather skirt!! I’m also totally digging socks with loafers. Takes me right back to my middle school days, and I’m not sad about it! And yes, that’s what my closet looked like after trying to figure those outfits out, but it was fun! 🤷🏼‍♀️

How to get the cuffed denim look without buying a How to get the cuffed denim look without buying a new pair of jeans! You don’t need to buy a new pair of jeans to get the cuffed denim look! Just grab a pair of straight leg jeans from your closet, cuff them to be about an inch or 2 above the top of your ankle bone and use the nifty little gadget from this tutorial. Viola! Plus, the cuffed denim length makes it a heck of a lot easier to wear most of the shoes in your closet! #winning
