She Said She Couldn’t Wear Flare Jeans: Challenge Accepted

Ahhhhhh! I’m so excited to share this post! The “Challenge Accepted” post idea has been in my brain for almost 2 years! So often my friends or readers say, “I can’t wear (insert article of clothing) because (you name it).” Most of the time, I know they are completely wrong, but I know what it feels like to think this, so I just nod. What I really want to do is take them shopping at that very moment to show them they can in fact wear flares, or skinny jeans, or jean shorts, etc! I can’t help it. I’m defiant in this way, but I also don’t want my friends and readers to limit themselves!

This is exactly how this post started off! I received a late night text from my friend, Jennifer (an amazing instructor at Define and the General Manager at Tanglewood Define), who was convinced she was too short to wear flare jeans. #ChallengAccepted… Watch the video to see what happened…

YouTube video

Not only can she wear flare jeans, but she looks freaking amazing in them. I’m just saying!

In this picture, she is wearing the Paige Bell Canyon in Harbor. This color is sold out most places, but I found them at ShopSpring.com. Don’t worry, it’s a reputable site. I talked with their rep at the blogger conference I recently attended. It’s actually a really cool concept, but more on that later.

Here are the other jeans we found for her! These are by DL1961. They are sold out most everywhere, but I found them on Amazon!

And because she knows me so well, she sends me pictures of herself in the jeans! It’s crazy how much I love these pictures.

A special thanks:

Jennifer, I love you! Thank you for being such a good sport and for being my first “Challenge Accepted”! You made my 2 year dream come true!

Claire, I love you, too! Thank you for making such a fun video for us to enjoy! Where have you been all my life?! You made my 2 year dream come true, too!

Now, who wants to be the next Challenge Accepted?

Do you want new hair growth in your eyebrows? I ha Do you want new hair growth in your eyebrows? I have a trick, and no, it’s not an expensive hair growth serum! It’s Castor Oil, so it’s all natural and inexpensive. Apparently, it’s been used for thousands of years dating back to ancient Egypt. Ok, and I use it on my eyelashes, too, but I’m doing that at my own risk. I don’t want to recommend this practice, since I don’t really know what it’s going to do to my eyesight. I know, call me crazy- it’s fine.

Thanks to my friend, Michelle for telling me about this little trick!

Comment “oil” for links to both the Castor Oil and the wands I use. #beautytips #beauty #eyebrows #beautyproducts
I attended a funeral today of a friend who died of I attended a funeral today of a friend who died of mental illness. If my friend is strong enough to stand at the podium and talk about her husband and the hope her family has in the midst of their darkest days, then I want to honor both of them by telling you about my struggle with mental illness. My friend mentioned that many of her husband’s closest friends had no idea that he’d been struggling with mental illness for 3 years, and I realized that many of you, and probably some of my closest friends don’t know how long and hard my struggle has been with mental illness. For me my mental illness wasn’t the kind where I couldn’t get out of bed or out of the house, which would make it hard to tell I was struggling. For me it looked more like battling through the day and struggling with my own self condemning thoughts and emotions - shaming myself for being happy one minute and sad the next, or for not being happy all the time, looking around at all my blessings and not feeling gratitude, which made me feel like there was something wrong with me. It was hard to get excited. On some days I walked around feeling like a scared puppy in a big bad world with my emotions right at the surface. For me, my faith is very important to me, and I knew this was not the life God had for me, so I started to pray for help and deliverance. God started to lead me to help in a whole bunch of different forms, counselors, health practitioners, friends, medicine, trauma therapy, EMDR, books, excercise, the support of family, and most importantly, Christ and His word.
For me, it was over a 10 year battle probably because I was overcoming a lot of trauma being raised by an alcoholic mom. But for you it may be longer or shorter or this isn’t something you struggle with at all (hallelujah!). If you do, your emotions and your struggle may be different. But I’m here to say, you’re loved. You are loved by God and by so many of the people around you. Don’t give up. Dig in and fight the battle that’s happening in your mind. Fight it like you would if you had cancer. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalillness #mentalhealthmatters

How to get the cuffed denim look without buying a How to get the cuffed denim look without buying a new pair of jeans! You don’t need to buy a new pair of jeans to get the cuffed denim look! Just grab a pair of straight leg jeans from your closet, cuff them to be about an inch or 2 above the top of your ankle bone and use the nifty little gadget from this tutorial. Viola! Plus, the cuffed denim length makes it a heck of a lot easier to wear most of the shoes in your closet! #winning
