What I Wore | September 20, 2017

What I Wore: Nantucket

If you follow along on Instagram, you know I went to Nantucket at the end of the summer. With all that has happened between now and then, it seems like it was at least a year ago! Isn’t time funny like that? I’ve been saving this post for when it felt a bit more like fall because posting this at the end of the summer felt a bit like when you go into the stores and see sweaters… you just sweat looking at them. Well, now that we’ve had a few (as in 2 or 3- ha!) days where the temperature has dropped, I’ve been thinking a bit more about fall and fall clothes. It has me extremely excited for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Anyway, here’s what I wore in Nantucket. There are a lot of really great items for fall and in general in this post. Brace yourselves. Ha!

J. Crew Top Cargo Pants

I love these green skinnies I picked up. They are a perfect transitional piece as we move into fall. I also love this new wool blazer I got for the trip. I think both pieces will become staples in my fall wardrobe.

J. Crew Top Shorts

These jean shorts deserve a post to themselves. I haven’t loved a pair of denim shorts this much since I blogged about my last favorite pair (here). What makes this pair so great is that, when they are unrolled, they’re the perfect length and don’t hug the thigh. I also love the raw edge.

J. Crew Dress

I tried to wear my long navy cardigan with this dress but couldn’t find it anywhere, so I grabbed my new black blazer. Well, it was a happy happenstance because I think black looks less matchy-matchy and more chic! Btw, I can’t stop using this trick since this happened. Navy and black forever!

J. Crew Top Skirt

I love tucking in blouse-y tops to define a waistline, especially when wearing a skirt that flares at the bottom. It’s an easy way to avoid the “tent” look. I also love pairing skirts and shorts with long sleeve tops for a little extra warmth.

J. Crew Jeans

This outfit is just easy. When in doubt, I love to wear black and white with a pop of color!

J. Crew Jeans

I’m taking my typical uniform up a notch with my new, funky hemline jeans! It took me awhile to get used to this trend. Now, I’m all in!

J. Crew Top

I love using popovers as cover-ups, especially when they’re lightweight. I wore denim shorts with this popover on the way to the beach and then took them off once we were there.

Madewell Top

These shorts have an elastic waistband, so obviously they are super comfy. That’s why they are my favorite shorts right now, and I keep throwing them on when I get home.

J. Crew Top Cargo Pants

This is the outfit I wore when we hung out in Boston for the day. I wouldn’t normally put this combination together for fear that I would look like a Christmas Tree, but I love the way it turned out.

I hope this post got you as excited as fall as a pumpkin spice latte!
