Last night, my family and I had dinner at a local dinner spot (Dish Society), and I noticed that the kid’s menu had a state of Texas and an armadillo on it to color. It made me chuckle. I’m not sure I really notice these things anymore because they are so common here in Texas. I love that we have an entire day dedicated to wearing western attire and you can find trail riders parading through the busy city streets on Go Texan Day! I also love attending my sons’ square dancing performances at their school on Go Texan Day! I’ll never forget getting honked at by a fellow Texan in Arizona because he saw our Texas license plate. There we were in our big old Suburban, headed to the Grand Canyon, waving to our fellow Texan! This Texas pride thing is for real. And I guess as I get a little older, I’m becoming a little nostalgic over my Texas roots and so I have made a few new purchases.
If you’re looking for a few fun (western-ish) items, check out my new purchases and coordinating outfits below.

These earrings are perfectly lightweight, and I plan to wear them all summer long. You really can’t beat the $35 price tag. I borrowed this necklace from a friend and loved it so much, I purchased it for myself. The belt reminded me of an old, western belt I had as a little girl, so I couldn’t resist ( I really am becoming quite nostalgic -ha!). I found the Vintage Huipil top while researching last weeks post, and I could NOT resist! I purchased some brown cowboy boots many years ago, and I’ve worn them a ton (see them here). So, this year I decided to finally buy some black cowboy boots. I’ve been thinking about it for years. I haven’t taken them off…

In fact, I usually wear the outfit above with my over the knee Stuart Weizman boots, but I like my new cowboy boots with it more. It almost felt a little European. I’m just saying.

I attended an event where you were supposed to wear camo. I tied the camo shirt around my waist, and I love how the necklace tied it all together. I’ve worn this outfit quite a few times since.

I just got my new Vintage Huipil Top (remember when I posted it here)! I’m such a sucker for hand embroidered tops. I cannot wait to wear this with a tank top and jean shorts, too!
If you’re not really into western but you need to find something that gives your outfit a bit of western flair, look no further than Sarah Sharp. You are going to love everything. You’ve been warned -Ha! In my mind, if you carry one of her bags, your outfit is made.
I love these western outfits. It’s taking my me back to my roots, and honestly, it’s adding a little needed flair to my wardrobe!
