I have three requirements when shopping for/buying sweaters. 1. I HATE itchy sweaters. I’ve learned that if the sweater feels itchy, I usually won’t wear it, so what’s the point in buying it? Now, I check tags to see how much wool is in the fabric. 2. I like my sweaters to be versatile. I like to be able to dress them up or down and to mix and match them with other shirts/flannels and pants/jeans/skirts. 3. I like to feel feminine in them because there is nothing worse to me than feeling dumpy in a sweater in the middle of winter -ha! (OK, there are worse things to me, but you catch my drift.)
So, now you know what to expect from the sweaters you’re about to see. These sweaters are the best of the best that we (my sister, my friend and I) tried on. These were the keepers:
(Oh, also, these are not the greatest pictures. This is just me running around trying on stuff and not looking all put together. So, if you like the sweater in these pictures, you’ll love them styled and put together -ha!)
I loved this sweater online so much, I went to the store to try it on because Topshop’s sizing can be tricky. I like the different take on the animal print trend! Plus, because it’s black and white, I’ll be able to mix and match it more easily! I’m wearing a 0-2. I usually wear a 4 in Topshop.
You know this sweater is good when your friend’s twenty-something daughter steals it from her -ha! This sweater feels like chenille (softest sweater I’ve ever put on) but doesn’t look bulky like chenille! It drapes nicely, and I love the v-neck because you still feel like you can breath. You could put a flannel or jean shirt under it, too. I’d wear this with leggings. I’m wearing an xs.
I don’t think these pictures do this sweater justice. It is so, so cute. I just styled my friend in this sweater- sloppy tucked into black skinny jeans with grey booties. She looked darling! I know I’ll reach for this sweater all the time. Oh, and it’s lightweight, so it doesn’t feel like it suffocates you. Plus, it’s kinda flowy, which I love! I’m wearing an xxs.
Last year, I bought a black sweater coat. I wore it ALL the time! So when I tried on this adorable black and white sweater coat and saw that it had pockets, I didn’t have to think twice. I’ll wear it with workout clothes, dresses, jeans, slacks, etc. Basically, I’ll wear it a lot because it’s so easy to throw on, and it’s black and white! I’m wearing an xs.
I’m loving sweaters with lace sleeves this year. Once again, it makes me feel feminine. I tried on this green sweater and instantly loved it. I can see wearing this to work meetings just as easily as I can see wearing it to date night or something dressy. Oh, and now I see they make it in ivory!!!! I’m wearing an xs.
This fabulous sweater reminds me of a Joie sweater I had to have until I found out it was made of wool and saw the price. But now I think this one is cuter because it’s less bulky. This sweater could be worn with anything! I’m wearing an xxs.
This sweater is such a great, basic sweater. What doesn’t go with this sweater? I love the slit detail on the side and the v-neck. Basic sweaters like this one and the cream v-neck may not catch your eye initially, but these are the sweaters you’ll usually wear most. It has great reviews, too! I’m wearing an xs.
I’m always looking for great, basic tees. These are great because they’re cotton, have a cute pattern, and have a high-low hem. These would be cute with a puffer vest and workout pants or a puffer vest, jeans and sneakers for a cute casual look. I’m wearing an xs.
This isn’t really a winter item, but my friend and I loved the fit of this black top so much, we had to buy it. This picture is terrible, and you can’t really tell how great it is… But, if you’re looking for a great basic black top that will go with everything, this is your top! I’m wearing an xxs.

The Joie sweater! Gorge. I only buy cashmere and merino wool when it comes to sweaters. I’ve learned my lesson. They have to be fitted but loose enough so I can wear a shirt/layers underneath. They also have to be thin and hold their shape. Picky.;)
