I am in love with the color camel/tan in outfits, as evidenced by these pins from my Pinterest board “Looks I Like.” Btw, this makes me want to go copy all three of these combinations right now!
Now, although I love camel/tan, I’m not sure it’s the best color on me. Do you have a color like that? A color you love but aren’t sure it looks that great on you? Now, whether tan actually looks good on me is neither here nor there, because I just want to wear it anyway. So, I had to come up with a way I could wear it regardless of whether it looks good on me!
Here’s my trick:
I pair or layer the color in question (tan in my case) with a color I know looks good on me! Here, I wore a black turtleneck under my tan sweater, and…
Jacket- Patagonia similar, Sweater- Everlane, Jeans- J Brand, Turtleneck- J.Crew, Sunglasses- Celine similar, Necklace- Lulu DK, Shoes- UGG, Earrings- Argento Vivo
…here the black puffer serves as my sure bet color layer. But, it doesn’t have to be black. I could put a navy blazer over this, wear it with white (which I show in today’s Instastories), or I could wear animal print (a la Olivia Palermo, top left)!
Can I wear tan? Heck, yes I can! I just have to pair it with a sure bet color!
P.S. My comfy high tops are on sale!

Fabulous tip! My challenge is grey. We have similar coloring, grey always looks so drab on me. I will definitely try the black turtleneck trick!
