I’m a little tired of my same ol’ same ol’ black pants, cute top and heels for my going out outfit. Frankly, it’s what I’m comfortable in, but I’m in need of a change! And I think skirts paired with tights is my answer! I received a few requests after doing my black tights post for a follow up on skirts. I’m sharing the major skirt trends and what to pair them with! Don’t miss my tip at the end on how to wear tights with any of these skirts!
BASIC BLACK SKIRTS- A basic black skirt is a wardrobe staple for a reason. It’s the easiest thing to wear because you can pair it with just about anything! Here are my on trend basic black skirt picks:
Basic black skirts are so easy! Just tuck a pretty blouse or sweater (or both) in the skirt. Pair it with high heeled booties, black flats or over the knee black boots. You really can’t go wrong. What a great and easy holiday look!
LEATHER SKIRTS- It’s hard to call leather skirts a trend because they are classic. It’s just that some seasons they are more popular than others. Well, leather skirts are super popular this season, and I think I need to add another one to my closet. Here are my favorites:
I love leather skirts with any and everything. I love how you can pair them with a blouse, sweater, t-shirt, or cami and a blazer. The skirt adds just a little bit of edge and looks chic.
PLEATED METALLIC SKIRTS- Then there’s the festive, pleated metallic skirt that’s so on trend this season. Here are my picks:
The easiest way to wear a metallic skirt is to pair it with a black top (my favorite lightweight black turtleneck here) and with black heels, flats or high heeled booties! Another option would be to wear it with a black blazer on top!
SEQUINED SKIRTS- Sequined skirts are always so fun and festive! Here are my picks:
These skirts look so great with a white oxford tucked in and a simple black flat or heel. You could also pair it with a black top. Heck, you could wear it with a t-shirt and sneakers, too. The point is, the skirt is the standout piece, so let it lead.
VELVET SKIRTS- I love the velvet trend, and a skirt seems to be the perfect way to participate without going overboard. Does that make sense? If your style is more subdued and you’re not really into glitz and sequins for holiday festivities, this is a great option for you. Here are my velvet picks:
You can wear a matching color top, a white blouse and or just a black top with these pretty skirts.
Also, I really love this skirt in blue and black check, but it didn’t fit into a category. Ha!
TIP: How to wear any of these skirts with black tights: You can wear ANY of these skirts with tights by following a simple trick- When wearing a lot of black on the bottom (black tights, black shoes), it looks best if the black is balanced out at the top. The easiest way to achieve this is by wearing a black top (my favorite light weight turtleneck here), but you can also achieve this by wearing a black jacket, black scarf or black earrings.
