One of my very favorite things in the world is before and after photos (of anything really, but especially homes)!!! It must release endorphins or light up something in my brain. I’ve wanted to share photos of my home for a long time, but I’m sad to say my perfectionist self got in the way. It just was never quite done enough to post. I’m going to try to not do this in the future. Thankfully, my friend and very talented interior designer, Ashely Goforth, agreed to bring the entire project home. So, over the next couple of weeks, I’ll share the before and after photos of my house that my friend and very talented photographer, Kerry Kirk, took!
My intention with these next few posts is to share sources, paint colors and lessons learned. That’s what I love most about other people’s home posts, so I plan to do it as much as possible. If I forget to source something, don’t hesitate to ask! For me, it’s all about the process of creating a fun space to comfortably live in!
Before (when we first moved in):
After we painted and purchased a new sofa (the halfway point when I called Ashley)…
After:
What I love most is how Ashley immediately spread the furniture out to utilize the full room. One of the first things she did to help me was hire movers for an afternoon and move furniture around. The results were astounding! If you notice in the before picture, I had everything huddled together in the middle of the room. She pushed the sofa back and brought in the leather chairs we had in our bedroom! I love how many people we can fit in this room now! It sure makes entertaining fun!
You are officially looking at my office. I sit in that blue and white chair and do all my work. It’s my favorite spot in the entire house. I had the chair shoved in the corner where the lamp stands now, and Ashley had to fight me tooth and nail to move it over a foot or two. Boy am I glad I acquiesced.
I hope you enjoyed seeing our living room before and after, just wait until you see the dining room next! Major props to the home bloggers out there! Linking an outfit is a lot easier than linking an entire room!
A special thanks to Ashley Goforth Design and Kerry Kirk Photography. Without them this post wouldn’t exist!

Gorgeous, Carly! My question is–what did you end up doing with the piece behind the sofa?? (or where did you end up putting it) I have the same piece in my dining room. I love the piece but it doesn’t fit in with my current look. Can’t decide if I want to paint it (high gloss?), move it, or what…

Hi!!!! I’m embarrassed to say that I can’t remember what I did with it. Eeeeek. #foggybrain We don’t have it in our house anymore, so I may have given it away or sold it.
