What Are You Wearing to Thanksgiving?

Nordstrom Free People 'Ventura' High/Low Thermal TopAre you needing some outfit inspiration for the week of Thanksgiving? Well, I found a really pretty poncho and the most perfect top for leggings to wear during the Thanksgiving break. I found them both in the Free People section of Nordstrom after they asked me to check it out. Did you know that Nordstrom started carrying Free People? What I like specifically about Nordstrom’s Free People selection is that their buyers have chosen practical items. I love Free People, but some of their pieces can be a bit too revealing, fussy, and short for my taste. That’s why I was so happy to find this must have leggings top in Nordstrom’s collection -it’s just my speed! If you’ve been a long time reader then you already know this, but I am somewhat obsessive about being comfortable while traveling (too many stomach aches from tight waistbands). This Thanksgiving we are driving up to Dallas. It’s a four hour car ride with kids, so I need to be comfy (am I right, or am I right?). That means leggings and a super soft top. Oh, and sneakers that are easy to slide on and off.Nordstrom Free People 'Ventura' High/Low Thermal TopI love the extra details in this shirt, which make it more than just a regular legging t-shirt. For instance, the knit changes from waffle to ribbed in various places. I also like that the neckline is not too low and not too high!Nordstrom Free People 'Ventura' High/Low Thermal TopObviously I love the fact that the shirt covers both the front and back, but I really like that it comes up on the sides. This allows the front to hit at the right place on the leg, which avoids the horizontal line at the hips. I also love the extra detail of a swoop hem in the front and the square hem in the back.
Nordstrom Free People 'Ventura' High/Low Thermal TopYup, I bought another pair of sneakers. Ahhhhhhh! I couldn’t help myself, they are high tops, and they are leopard! Yes and yes! Cool squared. (Or maybe the fact that I just said cool squared is quite dorky-ha!)
Nordstrom Free People 'Ventura' High/Low Thermal TopOh, and not to worry my colorful friends (Kathryn I’m talking to you), this top comes in a TON of different COLORS!

Nordstrom Free People 'Be the One' Fringe PonchoNow that we’ve covered the travel outfit, what are you going to wear on Thanksgiving day?!?! Here is what I’ll be wearing. Of course I’ll have on “The Best Fitting Grey Jeans“, because they are super comfy and make me look like I have a butt! I got inspired by my friend who recently wore her grey jeans with her cognac Rag and Bone booties (I posted about it on FB). I thought she looked adorable, so I copied!Nordstrom Free People 'Be the One' Fringe PonchoWith this colorful, fun, boho-y poncho, a big J. Lo hoop and bangles felt just right.Nordstrom Free People 'Be the One' Fringe PonchoTruth be told, while I’m in the kitchen with the girls getting dinner ready, I will not be in these booties or the poncho (fire hazard and fall hazard -ha!). I will always remember my aunt making the meal, and about 15 minutes before company arrived, she would go in her room and change into her nice clothes (never jeans, but she has started to allow it in recent years). That’s exactly what I’ll be doing here. Just like her, I’ll be completely ready in my jeans, flat booties, and a t-shirt, and right before the company comes, I’ll throw on my poncho and change my shoes (maybe).

Nordstrom Free People 'Be the One' Fringe PonchoWell guys, Thanksgiving is in 8 days, which is just enough time to order a little something for yourself! I hope you have happy, safe, and cozy travels, my friends. You can thank me later when your stomach is not cramping, and you have just a little more patience with your kids (and family) because you’re comfy and look cute!Nordstrom Free People 'Be the One' Fringe PonchoOutfit Links: Poncho- Free People, Jeans- Paige, Shoes- Kristen Cavallari, Earrings- Argento Vivo, Bracelets- Alex and Ani

Are the jeans you’re wearing grey? They look denim to me, but hard to tell. Also, are the Paige jeans long enough? One reviewer said she was 5’3″ and didn’t need to hem them.
    Thanks! Love the poncho!

There are so many talented artists/designers in this world, and to be able to experience and be fully immersed in so many of their creations in one place was a really neat experience!! I highly recommend, if you have not been. Their show in Dallas is open through November 13th.

Do you want new hair growth in your eyebrows? I ha Do you want new hair growth in your eyebrows? I have a trick, and no, it’s not an expensive hair growth serum! It’s Castor Oil, so it’s all natural and inexpensive. Apparently, it’s been used for thousands of years dating back to ancient Egypt. Ok, and I use it on my eyelashes, too, but I’m doing that at my own risk. I don’t want to recommend this practice, since I don’t really know what it’s going to do to my eyesight. I know, call me crazy- it’s fine.

Thanks to my friend, Michelle for telling me about this little trick!

Comment “oil” for links to both the Castor Oil and the wands I use. #beautytips #beauty #eyebrows #beautyproducts
I attended a funeral today of a friend who died of I attended a funeral today of a friend who died of mental illness. If my friend is strong enough to stand at the podium and talk about her husband and the hope her family has in the midst of their darkest days, then I want to honor both of them by telling you about my struggle with mental illness. My friend mentioned that many of her husband’s closest friends had no idea that he’d been struggling with mental illness for 3 years, and I realized that many of you, and probably some of my closest friends don’t know how long and hard my struggle has been with mental illness. For me my mental illness wasn’t the kind where I couldn’t get out of bed or out of the house, which would make it hard to tell I was struggling. For me it looked more like battling through the day and struggling with my own self condemning thoughts and emotions - shaming myself for being happy one minute and sad the next, or for not being happy all the time, looking around at all my blessings and not feeling gratitude, which made me feel like there was something wrong with me. It was hard to get excited. On some days I walked around feeling like a scared puppy in a big bad world with my emotions right at the surface. For me, my faith is very important to me, and I knew this was not the life God had for me, so I started to pray for help and deliverance. God started to lead me to help in a whole bunch of different forms, counselors, health practitioners, friends, medicine, trauma therapy, EMDR, books, excercise, the support of family, and most importantly, Christ and His word.
For me, it was over a 10 year battle probably because I was overcoming a lot of trauma being raised by an alcoholic mom. But for you it may be longer or shorter or this isn’t something you struggle with at all (hallelujah!). If you do, your emotions and your struggle may be different. But I’m here to say, you’re loved. You are loved by God and by so many of the people around you. Don’t give up. Dig in and fight the battle that’s happening in your mind. Fight it like you would if you had cancer. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalillness #mentalhealthmatters

Takes me right back to my middle school days, and I’m not sad about it! And yes, that’s what my closet looked like after trying to figure those outfits out, but it was fun! 🤷🏼‍♀️

How to get the cuffed denim look without buying a How to get the cuffed denim look without buying a new pair of jeans! You don’t need to buy a new pair of jeans to get the cuffed denim look! Just grab a pair of straight leg jeans from your closet, cuff them to be about an inch or 2 above the top of your ankle bone and use the nifty little gadget from this tutorial. Viola! Plus, the cuffed denim length makes it a heck of a lot easier to wear most of the shoes in your closet! #winning
