My sister and I were having lunch today, and she mentioned she was going to return a pair of tall rain boots she received for Christmas (she already had a very similar pair). Well, I immediately started going into all the reasons why she should try short rain boots! I had purchased a pair on Cyber Monday and have since fallen in love with them. There are just so many benefits to short rain boots! They aren’t as cumbersome when you walk around (you know the knock, knock sound the rubber makes while you walk and it bends? -Ha!), they have a sleek, slim look that looks great with a majority of outfits (skinny jeans/pants, leggings, dresses, skirts, etc), they are a little dressier (I wore them to church, and they didn’t feel out of place), and they are tight enough around the ankle that I wasn’t worried about water getting in. I surprised myself with how serious my case was for the short rain boot! Who knew that I was so passionate about them?!? Ha! Just in case you’ve been a little put off by the short rain boot idea (I was), I’m here to say they are really great! Plus, it’s been pretty rainy here and spring showers are a comin’. I purchased an animal print pair from J. Crew (sold out) on Cyber Monday that are so fun, but they are not very versatile (sometimes I throw caution to the wind and buy what is fun -ha!). But my next pair will be a more versatile color that I can wear more, like black, navy, or maroon.
Whether you are wanting to throw caution to the wind and go for a fun color, or you are wanting a more versatile pair, here are some really great options:
P.S. This is not to say I will not be wearing my traditional tall rain boots! I love them too much! This is just a case for the short rain boot!

I’m so glad you did this post! I can’t stand lugging around tall rain boots – so heavy! They are so cumbersome and I also can’t stand that “clop, clop, clop” sound of dragging my heels. But…it is raining a lot and who wants wet feet. I’ve been dragging my heels (I love puns) on the short ones and now I’m going for it.

You are going to love them! Wouldn’t it be fun if we saw each other while we were both wearing them?!?! That would make me happy!

Before rainy season started in Atlanta, I grabbed the J Crew boots you have pictured (low, green). I love them! I am petite (5’2″) so I thought it’d be a flattering style. For this particular pair, I’ve also liked having the little bit of color while still having a versatile, near-neutral. I’ve actually heard people comment on them as I pass! The only down-side is that my 7- and 4-yr-old boys and I love to go on puddle walks…and the insides of the short boots get wet from stomping in even shallow puddles:-)
