An EASY House Project

fullsizerender-65
I did a really fun and easy house project today, so I thought I’d share. I recently asked my friend Ashley Goforth to come over and help me with my house. I used to be so motivated when it came to my house, but now I’m so unmotivated! Is it because I have kids and the kid’s mess makes me unmotivated? Is it because our recent renovation took it out of me? Is it because house stuff is usually expensive and that freaks me out? Is it because dressing an entire house instead of just a body seems so overwhelming?!? Who knows, but what I do know is that just about anything in life is more fun when you have a friend to help you!

Ashley came over last week and as we were brainstorming what we can do in the kitchen to add some finishing touches, she said something like, “you could put a brass bowl on the table with succulents”. Ding! Ding! Ding! I already have a brass bowl from Target, so done! I couldn’t wait to do this manageable little house project, so today I went to IKEA and bought little succulents for $3.49!  I then put them in my brass Nate Berkus bowl from Target! I love how it adds color and life (real life!) to my kitchen! img_0858-2

Well, all I have to say is this sure does beat the $24.99 orchids I buy for the kitchen that I can’t seem to keep alive. I have an orchid graveyard… more on that later. I figure, if these can stay alive in the dungeon of IKEA, surely I can keep them alive, right? Oh, and I bought way too many succulents (I got a little too excited -ha!). I had three left over, so I put them in my old NEST candle holders! I’m not a hoarder, but these were worth keeping!

I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween!

What a great idea! I also keep old candle holders! Some are just too pretty to throw away. Good luck with decorating your house!

Great idea! Is that bowl still available at Target? I have a round table and am always struggling with what to put in the middle.

I don’t think so. I bought it last year, I couldn’t find it on Target’s website.

I love those chairs. I think you posted before, but can you remind me where you got them?

Haha! I stopped buying (and killing) those beautiful orchids when I picked one up at the grocery store and my son said “and the next victim is…”:).
I like your idea of something heartier!

Hi Friend! I love it! Your son is so witty?!?! Did you know you can put your orchids in your trees and they’ll bloom? I’ll try to email you pics.
