Florals are a big trend for fall, and I’m all in! Here’s why- in the colder months, my attire can look and feel a bit drab. It seems like all I wear is black, grey, and navy. It makes me feel a little less feminine, and after a month or two, it makes me feel drab. This is when I usually add a pink, red or blue pop of color to help me feel better!
Well, this season I have a new option with florals, and I’m really excited about it! I’ll feel feminine, it will add a pop of color, and I’ll be on trend! It’s no surprise- remember the floral dress I freaked out over at the beginning of the summer (here)? So, when J. Crew reached out to me to check out their new florals for fall, I was super excited! Plus, I was headed in there to shop for my vacation anyway! To me, shopping for vacation is one of my favorite parts about going on vacation, and one of my first stops in always J. Crew!
I love that the floral camisole adds a feminine vibe to this edgy outfit.
I love these camisoles because, if I’m going to spend money on a trend, I want to be able to wear it with lots of things. They could be dressed up with a skirts or slacks or dressed down with boyfriend jeans and sneakers. I see it as one of those pieces I’ll reach for when I want to add a bit of interest to my cold weather outfits.
Most of the time, camisoles have a spaghetti strap, which drives me crazy. I’m just too darn practical to have to wear a strapless bra all the time! Another reason I love these camisoles is that you can wear a normal bra and the v isn’t too low!
Ok, one more reason I like these camisoles is because the floral pattern is a pretty, refined floral pattern, which is not surprising since it’s a print by British wallpaper designer, Abigail Borg. Sometimes floral patterns can feel like I’m wearing a man’s Hawaiian shirt, but it doesn’t feel that way with these!!
Here’s what else I found at J. Crew for my vacation:
I’m going on a family vacation to Washington and Oregon, so I’ll be taking a break from the blog. If you’d like to follow along, check Instagram in the meantime.
I hope you guys are having a great summer!
Hi Carley! Love this look and the striped jumpsuit for your vacation. do you have a rule of thumb or advice on where a cropped pant should hit me? I am 5′ 3″ and when I buy ankle or cropped pants they are too long but I don’t know really where they should hit. How many inches above the ankle bone? My seamstress doesn’t know – she just asks me how short I want it to be. Thanks and have a great vacation!
Hi Diane, I prefer 2-3 inches above the ankle, but that’s a personal preference. I would have your seamstress pin 2 inches on one side, and 4 inches on the other, and see which length you like best. I hope this helps!
girl, you are so cute! love alllll these looks. question about your luludk necklace. have you felt like it’s held up well? thanks!
Hi! I’ve actually been surprised with how well my code necklace has help up! Wear it a ton, but I don’t wear it in the shower.
