Just guess how many minutes this little pumpkin arrangement took me? I’m embarrassed to even say, so you’ll have to head down to the end of this post. But first, fall is in the air in Houston!
My friend brought over a fall scented candle a month or two ago (thanks, Amy!), so I lit it on the first official day of fall! My boys couldn’t stop talking about how they loved the smell and all the good fall “vibes” in our house. Plus, with the sounds of football on in the background and a puzzle on the dining room table, I’m right there with them. So what did I do this weekend? Bolstered the good fall “vibes” with a good ole pumpkin arrangement.
I learned a few things, so I thought I’d share what I learned, since I am a little early this year (first time ever).
Here’s what I learned:
1. Make sure you get your centerpiece (the mum) actually in the middle (not like you see here). 😆
2. Mixing the bright orange color pumpkins and the white or muted (fairytale) pumpkins is hard. Next time I’ll buy one or the other.
3. Buy even numbers when splitting them up around a middle piece (centerpiece).
4. Don’t be afraid to not use a pumpkin if it doesn’t fit in the arrangement. I didn’t use 2 pumpkins. They found another happy home on my porch.
6. If you’re in Houston, I purchased my pumpkins from Cornelius.
5. Don’t be a perfectionist. This arrangement took me 46 minutes, and I’m still not 100% satisfied with it. Hahahaha! If you’d like to see the ridiculous arranging and rearranging of pumpkins video I did, head to Instagram. Don’t worry, I time-lapsed it.
Oh, and since I can’t find my friend’s candle anywhere, I’m testing 4 different fall candles…
I can already tell the winner. Heirloom pumpkin (the wooden candle) because the pumpkin isn’t overpowering. It smells more like cinnamon with a hint of a familiar fall smell (pumpkin). I’ve heard the Nest and Capri Blue candles smell too pumpkin-y.
