I’m always trying to find ways to stay “in style” and “updated” while staying true to me. There are some styles and updates that just don’t feel like me, like the lingerie from day to night trend (Ha!), so I just let them pass. Or, if I like an update but don’t quite feel comfortable with it yet, I’ll keep trying the update until I find something I feel comfortable in.
Case in point, when the cropped flare jeans came on the market, I couldn’t help but wince a little every time I tried them on (have you ever felt that way when trying on a new trend?). They just felt like high waters on me, and since I was a tall girl growing up before tall sizes were offered and had to stretch my jeans while they were wet to make them long enough on me, anything that reminds me of high waters make me cringe!
When skinny jean alternatives started showing up on the market, I knew I wanted to try and find a pair that felt like me. I love my skinny jeans, but I was ready for a change. I’ve always liked the idea of adding one updated element to my wardrobe to breathe new life into all of my existing clothing. I knew my tops and sweaters could be given a new life if I could just find a pair of skinny jean alternatives.
Enter the The Weekender (Hop On Hop Off) by Mother…
They feel in-style and updated, and most importantly, they feel like me!!! I feel comfortable in them- not like I’m trying to force a trend! #beentheredonethat I also like that they are mid-rise and super duper stretchy. So, when Nordstrom asked me to share something from their women’s department as a sponsored post, it was a no brainer for me because I knew just what I wanted to share! I’ve worn these jeans with sandals, mules and…
…sneakers. I doned the sweater on top to show you guys how I plan to wear these jeans in the fall. Clearly, I did not actually wear this sweater. Houston is still very HOT!
Then, I saw a friend in a similar looking pair of black jeans, so I asked her what kind they were. She kindly scrounged around the inner part of her jeans to find out they were The Hustler by Mother. Well, since I love my Weekenders (Hop On Hop Off) by Mother so much, I ordered them straight away! Unfortunately, they were too short on me, but guess who they looked amazing on?!?! My sister, who is…
…5’4″ and likes high-waisted jeans! Then I got a text from my 5′ 6″ friend who had just ordered a pair of Hustler’s by Mother and loved the fit but was unsure of the length, since they hit her right at her ankle bone. I assured her that this length is perfect and on trend!
The Hustler is the perfect length on my sister…
And the Weekender ( Hop On Hop Off) is the perfect length on me (I’m 5′ 8″)…
But, do you know the best part about both of these jeans? They have a raw edge, so if they’re too long, you can just cut them!!!
We’re goofy, it was hot, and my sister was trying to channel her inner model, and she clearly…
…nailed it! Ha! I love my sister. Thanks for always being game for all my C. Style shenanigans, @tellittoyourneighbor!
