Last week I put on this outfit.
I looked in the mirror and thought, “this outfit is kinda boring.” I almost took it off, but I really didn’t feel like changing. So, I decided to try and save the outfit with a few basic styling tricks.
I liked how it turned out and I didn’t end up changing, so I’d say that’s a success!
I used 7 basic styling tricks in this outfit transformation. The next time you are about to change, try a few of these styling tricks instead!
– Try rolling or cuffing your jeans.
– Try playing with how your shirt is tucked. Maybe opt for a “sloppy tuck” or just a front tuck (leaving the back untucked).
– Try adjusting your sleeves by pushing them up, rolling them into a neat cuff or doing a more casual “J. Crew sleeve roll.”
-Try adding or taking away accessories. You can barely tell, but I took off one of my necklaces (in this instance, less was more). Then, I added a fun, big, statement earring.
-Try seeing if the right bag will help your outfit look better. I really liked the way my black cross body added a little more dimension to the outfit. Plus, I liked the way it looked with my watch -ha!
-Try adding a pop of color. In this case, and most of the time, my pop of color is my lipstick!
-Try doing something different with your hair. Sometimes I can put my hair in a top knot and my outfit instantly gets cuter! On this day I could wear my hair down, so I took full advantage!
I hope you find these basic styling tips helpful! If you use one and you want to share it with me, I’d love to see! Tag me @cstyleblog and use the hashtag #cstyleinspo.

Love all of your outfits. I also love cross body bags and bought the one you suggested. I am also self conscious about where the strap lands. It always tends to separate the boobs in an unflattering way. Any suggestions??
